All of Marie Bathellier's explorations are inspired by immersion in the landscape and are an ode to joy, purity, silence and beauty.
The artist builds by an with color, explores subtle gradations or works with coloramas that are revealed more slowly.
Her work pluges us into a universe that is both radical and poetic , archaic and graceful.
Simple and instinctive approach to creation.
Marie Bathelier multiplies the sensoty experiences and passes from one material to another.
Mineral density, raw wood life, softness of the fabric, collapsible and crumpled quality of the Japanese paper , flexibility of a canvas frame... and the color always. The begining enchant him, with this arising in the "original strengh and freshness".
The artist collects, cuts, pumices, pierces, plays, folds, wrinkles, searches, paints and renews. Poetic experiences. Abstract, contemporary, minimal compositions.
Under a big oak tree. Her studio is located away from the hustke and bustle of the world , on the open sea, on an island. Freedam, contemplation, prodigious light. Regularly too, the neeed of altitude and relief guides its steps in the mountains where it collects new landscapes and brings back stones, woods and sand. The different works of Marie Bathelier come into resonance with each other and try to tell the presence of being in the world, the power of nature and the necessity of joy.
